Early Steps is Florida's early intervention system that offers services to infants and toddlers (birth to thirty-six months) with significant delays or a condition likely to result in a developmental delay.

Brief description of program or funding including funding distribution method (formula or competitive grant):

Funding under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part C.  Early Steps is Florida's early intervention system that offers services to infants and toddlers (birth to thirty-six months) with significant delays or a condition likely to result in a developmental delay.  Funding is to be distributed based on the base funding formula for IDEA Part C grants to states.

When funds are expected to be available:  Half on March 30, 2009, remaining half September 30, 2009

How long are funds available:  Each year’s funding will be available for 15 months, plus 12 additional months to liquidate per the Tydings Amendment for a total of  27 months.  Final date for liquidation is December 31, 2011.
