Funding for modernizing or improving existing rail and bus rapid transit systems

Brief description of program or funding including funding distribution method (formula or competitive grant): Funding for capital projects to modernize or improve existing fixed guideway transit facilities (rail and bus rapid transit).  Funds are allocated by FTA on a tiered formula basis to transit agencies with existing fixed guideway systems.

When funds are expected to be available:  March 2009

How long are funds available:    Funds will be available until September 30, 2010.
