This program is preserving 27 positions in the nonprofit arts sector in 12 counties. Each county received $25,000 in pass-through funding from the National Endowment for the Arts Recovery Act program.

Brief description of program or funding including funding distribution method (formula or competitive grant):  

Organizations will compete for funding to support salaried positions in jeopardy or eliminated as a result of the current economic climate that are critical to their artistic mission.  Funds will be allocated to eligible applicants via a grant panel review made up of Florida Arts Council members and cultural arts experts; request amount will be funded in full up to $25,000; special consideration shall be given to organizations that support underserved populations (those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability) and geographical distribution.

When funds are expected to be available:  April 2009

How long are funds available:  2 years

Conditions or prerequisites for accessing funds (include matching or MOE requirements):   No match required; must follow NEA guidelines for salary preservation or restoration in the arts nonprofit sector and must provide quarterly reports (content to be determined).  Additional state budget authority will be required.
