Childcare

Section: Division A, Title VIII | Agency: Agency for Workforce Innovation

The funds pay for quality child care for income-eligible families so that parents can work or prepare for work and provide additional funding for Head Start programs.

Brief description of program or funding including funding distribution method (formula or competitive grant):  Funding will be available through the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) Discretionary Grant.  The amount provided to Florida was determined by formula.  The funds will provide financial resources to pay for quality child care for income eligible families so that parents can work or prepare for work. The Agency and 31 early learning coalitions throughout Florida that implement the School Readiness program will conduct a needs assessment that will help prioritize the use of these additional funds that will likely include a combination of enrolling more children and families in the program, improving program quality and providing payment rate increases to child care providers, as needed.

When funds are expected to be available: Fund will be available in this FFY the exact date is unknown at this time.

How long are funds available:    Funds must be obligated by September 30, 2010 and expended by September 30, 2011.  

Conditions or prerequisites for accessing funds (include matching or MOE requirements): The funds provided must supplement and not supplant State funding.  (Further instructions will be provided)  Subject to 13% for quality and infant/toddler targeted funds, 4% quality and 5% administrative cap.
