Senior Meals

Section: Division A, Title VIII | Agency: Dept. of Elder Affairs

These funds will provide congregate meals and home-delivered meals to Florida seniors 60 and older.

Brief description of program or funding including funding distribution method (formula or competitive grant):

These funds will provide congregate meals and home-delivered meals to Florida seniors 60 and older.  The Department will allocate these funds to the eleven Area Agencies on Aging according to the existing allocation methodology which is a weighted allocation based on different segments of the elderly population by Area Agency.

·         35% of the population 60 and over

·         35% of the population 60 + with income below the poverty level

·         15% of the minority population 60+ with income below 125% of the poverty level

·         15% of the 65+ population with two or more disabilities.

When funds are expected to be available:  Funds are available 3/17/2009.

How long are funds available: The budget period is 3/17/2009 through 9/30/2010

Conditions or prerequisites for accessing funds (include matching or MOE requirements): 

Federal participation cannot exceed 85% of the total service costs.  There is a 15% required match.
