Unemployment Compensation (additional compensation)
Section: Division B, Title II | Agency: Agency for Workforce Innovation
Brief description of program or funding including funding distribution method (formula or competitive grant): Federal Additional Compensation (FAC) provides a $25 weekly supplement to the unemployment compensation (UC) of eligible claimants. The cost of the supplement as well as the costs associated with implementing the payment of FAC is fully federally funded. As FAC payments are made the state draws down from the federal account the amount needed to pay for the benefits.
For weeks of unemployment beginning on February 22, 2009 FAC is payable on the following UC claim types:
Regular State claims, UC for Federal Civilian Employees, UC for Ex-servicemembers, Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC), state Extended Benefits, Trade Readjustment Allowances, Disaster Unemployment Assistance, and Short-time Compensation.
How long are funds available: For weeks of unemployment beginning February 22, 2009 through July 3, 2010. However, FAC may not be paid on any claim established after December 26, 2009.
